1. Tell us about the work you currently do?

I head the Enterprise Project Management Business for India at CBRE and have recently also taken on the role of Sector Director for the Technology, Media, and Telecommunication (TMT) Sector for Asia Pacific. I am based in Mumbai and have over 23 years of experience in the CRE industry, working with diverse clients in the US and Indian markets. I have grown consistently in this two-decade career journey, undertaking various roles and responsibilities as an architect/interior designer and subsequently transitioning to project management in 2010. Apart from building a strong project management team across the country, I am always keen to contribute to various best practices and processes in the division.

2. What’s the best part of being associated with the CoreNet Global India Chapter?

I have recently joined the CoreNet Global India Chapter and am enjoying networking with our Industry Professionals and the Events hosted, which allow for some great discussions on trending topics. I would like to get more involved and contribute to the Chapter as I get more familiar with it.

3. What do you feel most passionately about the CRE industry in India?

I moved to India in 2012 and have seen some significant positive changes in the last 10 years in the CRE industry, related to construction techniques, technology, and sustainability, to name a few. However, I am most passionate about the Safety Practices in our industry. While we have seen an improvement and focus on this aspect not only from the client but also from the developers and vendor partners through trainings, workshops, audits, and investment in safety equipment, technology (like BIM and Drones), support facilities, and gear, there is still much more to be done to change the mindset and instill a safety culture in our construction activities.

4. Can you share interesting learning you have had in recent years?

I think I can speak on behalf of many of us when I say that COVID has taught us Resilience. From using technologies to showcase project progress on sites virtually to our remote clients to keeping our team and vendors safe through on-the-spot implementation of EHS practices on site, all of us, through innovative thinking and teamwork, overcame many such project-related risks and challenges and even continue to use some of these practices today.

Personally, there are so many inspirational stories all around us that help us overcome difficulties and even tragedies to survive and rise with grace.
