Tell us about the work you currently do?

As the Head of Leasing, I steer the leasing & portfolio strategy for Alembic’s office & retail assets spread across Bangalore & Gujarat. I am part of the core team responsible for developing and planning Alembic’s greenfield, mixed-use township of over 90 and 150 acres at Bangalore & Gujarat, respectively.

What’s the best part of being associated with the CoreNet Global India Chapter?

The highlight of being associated with an entity like CoreNet Global is the cumulative experience bank that can be delved into. In the specific context of CRE, the opportunity to keep one’s ear to the ground is quite desirable, not to mention beneficial. There is immense scope for key takeaways and references, whether to do with impending market trends or knowledge sharing on best practices.

What is the essential skill you have developed in your career?

It does take some effort to make the team greater than the sum of its parts, and thus what I’ve come to embrace and endorse – mostly to good effect – is a collaborative spirit in my exchanges in general, and with the team in particular. Collaborative leadership takes much pace-setting at one’s end & that is what I constantly aim to attempt and achieve.

What’s your favorite quote and why?

“…Somehow out there; a man died for me today.
As long as there be war, I then must ask and answer
Am I worth dying for?”
It’s a little poem that, apparently, Eleanor Roosevelt carried around in her wallet to her dying day. It’s a reference made in the context of war but feels acutely relevant considering the treacherous two years that have passed us by have been nothing short of a global battle for survival. Almost all of us, or somebody we know, have encountered loss and pain, yet the countless tales of strength & sacrifice of frontline workers and even ordinary citizens must remind us to repurpose life along these lines: “Am I worth dying for?”
